Monica is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist at Nido Individual & Family Therapy, currently accepting new clients in California!

Monica is deeply inspired by the nuances of the human experience, and this passion guides her impactful work as a psychotherapist. With over eight years of experience working alongside individuals, groups, couples, and families, she offers a tender-hearted, human-first approach, creating a safe and empathetic container for clients as they navigate life’s most formidable challenges. Monica believes her role is to walk beside clients as they rediscover the strengths they already possess, always honoring them as the experts of their own lives.

Monica’s journey in psychotherapy began with a psychodynamic lens, exploring how formative experiences shape clients’ worldviews. She continues to recognize the importance of intersectionality in understanding her clients holistically, taking into account how various identities — race, gender, sexuality, culture, neurodivergence included — affect their lives and well-being. Her approach also addresses the impact of broader systems, such as family dynamics and societal pressures, on her clients' growth and healing.

With extensive experience in diverse clinical settings, including residential and outpatient care, Monica has worked with a wide range of clients and presenting problems. She has supported individuals from varied backgrounds, including BIPOC/PGM, LGBTQIA2-S+, neurodivergent individuals, veterans, and adolescents, and takes particular pride in creating a supportive space for those who have felt unseen or misunderstood. Using her compassionate presence and intuition, Monica builds trust and fosters meaningful transformation.

As a neurodivergent, queer woman with an American-Jewish cultural background, Monica brings a holistic and culturally sensitive perspective to her work. She has also undertaken her own depth-oriented personal growth, believing that good clinicians do their own healing. This self-actualization journey informs her work as she continuously alchemizes her life experiences to empower others.

Monica often describes herself as an intuitive therapist, knowing when to guide clients to deeper layers and when to create space for their natural unfolding. Equally important, she is dedicated to meeting each client without assumption, staying present with the ability to stay curious, relate, connect, and facilitate healing.

When not in the therapy room, Monica adores spending time with her beloved cat (who is her whole world), being in nature, grounding, laughing, and sharing moments with friends.

Her approach balances compassionate inquiry with levity, believing in infusing her life and work with laughter and joy. Open to metaphysical elements like crystals and spirituality, Monica welcomes exploration of what feels healing and true for each person.

Her ultimate hope is for clients to feel empowered and embodied, ready to step into their next chapter of self-actualization with a sense of agency and self-awareness. Her therapeutic work emphasizes personal growth, relationship dynamics, identity exploration, and parts work, always aiming to help clients take an active role in their lives.
