Individual Therapy

Everyone deserves a safe, supportive space to navigate life’s uncertainties.

Our therapists use depth-oriented, trauma-informed approaches to provide the guidance and care you need to cope with challenges, process emotions, validate your lived experience, and seek relief from mental and physical symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. Our work aims to be relational, liberation-focused, and deeply attuned to each person’s lived experience.

We specialize in trauma work, emotional processing, neurocomplex experiences, LGBTQIA2-S+ and BIPOC/PGM-affirming care, body-centered and somatic processing, and navigating the emotional, physical, and mental consequences that are caused by systemic oppression and marginalization.

Family Therapy

Navigate challenging family dynamics with care so every individual can find a foundational, transformative home within themselves and in connection with one another.

Our therapists can allow families of all kinds to come together to navigate change, growth, and challenges with enhanced communication tools and conflict resolution.

Family counseling services offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space for open conversations about needs and issues in order to establish new ways of relating to one another and yourself, in order to nourish lifelong bonds.

Family sessions can encompass all of the themes we discuss in individual sessions through a relational, attachment-based lens, allowing everyone involved to feel seen, heard, and tended to. These themes include transitional change that affects everyone in the family, such as separation and divorce, blending families, adoption, school and work challenges, grief, and trauma — all with the aim of healing patterns of disconnection and fostering a sense of deeper intimacy both in the family and out.

Relationship &
Couples Therapy

Find stability and joy through connection while moving through the relationship challenges of decision-making, transitional change, and establishing boundaries.

We offer a space for all configurations of relationships to meet in solidarity, curiosity, and connection. Whether you are dating, engaged, married, partnered, or somewhere in between, and wherever your relationship falls on the spectrums of traditional/unconventional, monogamous/polyamorous, or asexual/erotic, including LGBTQ relationships and same-sex partnerships, our relationship therapists provide a space of non-judgmental understanding and gentle inquiry for partnerships.

We support the growth of understanding and empathy between partners to build trust, navigate through conflicts, and strengthen shared bonds as with our other therapy options, we can explore all of the challenges that are coming up in the lives you build together, in addition to topics such as building a family, discrepancies in communication or intimacy, and collaborating on a shared vision of your future.

Group Therapy

Access therapeutic support and self-understanding with communal perspectives and a source of connection.

Therapeutic process groups allow for the unique opportunity to receive multiple perspectives, support, encouragement and feedback from other individuals in a safe and confidential environment. In these groups, 5-12 people engage in guided conversation facilitated by a licensed therapist surrounding a mutual topic. Perspectives and support are typically offered both by the group facilitator and other members of the group.

Nido’s process groups explore topics such as:

  • Navigating Identity and Connection for Neurodivergent Folks

  • Building Community for Young Adults

  • Body Image Support

  • Group support for anxiety and depression

Sessions are typically 50-60 minute meetings and held weekly for 5-12 weeks at a time in person in Manhattan Beach and Irvine, California, or virtually. Therapy groups require advance reservation.

Adolescent Therapy

Although the teenage years often bring rapid change, accelerated growth, and high expectations, there are effective ways to alleviate some of the associated pressures and challenges.

Our therapists connect with teenagers from the perspective that they are already trying to do their best to adjust and cope during what are often some of the most challenging years of a person’s life. At Nido, we offer a space of autonomous exploration for teens to understand themselves and how they relate to the world around them, while providing tools and guidance to navigate this time of transition.

Adolescent therapy supports teens by exploring the same support needs that we discuss in individual sessions with adults through a lens of empowering teenagers to build appropriate independence, gain confidence, and develop nourishing relationships with their peers and families.

Adult Autism &
ADHD Assessment

Gaining a deeper understanding of your neurotype can be a transformative experience, offering clarity and validation that complements your ongoing exploration of self in therapy.

Exploring a potential diagnosis isn’t a replacement for your current therapeutic work — it is an additional, supportive process that can enhance self-awareness, foster personal growth, and create avenues for necessary accommodations that make care more possible.

At Nido Individual and Family Therapy, we offer a neurodivergent-affirming approach to the evaluation process for adults seeking an ADHD test or an autism evaluation. Through collaborative clinical interviews conducted in a conversational and accommodating style, our testing clinician — who brings both professional expertise and lived experience as a neurodivergent person — works with you to explore your neurotype in a way that feels safe, respectful, and empowering. This process is designed to integrate seamlessly with your existing therapy, adding valuable insight to your overall connection with yourself.
